God Bless The Missouri Department Of Revenue

Ladies and gentlemen, I would love to take this moment to extend my warmest thanks to all of the fine staff at our local Missouri Dept. of Revenue here in Joplin, MO. They do an outstanding job of making sure that you wait, for what seems like an eternity. Also they do a fine job of arguing with the customers who do not have all the proper documentation needed to properly get their vehicles licensed.

Some of you might be wondering where is he taking this blog post? Well, last week I had to get my vehicle plates renewed because they were due to expire at the end of the month of March. I located my receipts for my personal property taxes from the previous two years, went and obtained a saftey inspection for my vehicle, and made sure my vehicle insurance card was valid. Then I went to the D.M.V. office.

Like I stated earlier, I had all of my documents in order to easily get my new plates. I even got up early and was at the D.M.V. around 7:45 in the morning. To my surprise, there was already a line of aboout 10 people. Also to my surprise, there was only one counter person who was working at the counter.

Here's what I truly love about the D.M.V. The lady who was being helped first did not have all of the proper documention that was necessary to get her vehicle licensed. The lady began to argue with the clerk and this continued for at least 10 minutes. "Come on lady," I remember thinking. It cleary states what documentation is needed for the license plates. What was worse, the clerk argued with her. I just would have told her to come back when she had all her paper work in order, but it seems the clerks love to argue. WHAT WAS THERE TO ARGUE ABOUT? Nothing. Get your stuff right and then come back was all that would have been needed to be said.

What I thought would be a quick and easy trip to get my new license plates turned out to be a one hour affair. Thanks D.M.V. for being so efficient.

  1. i feel your pain. after i searched and searched for my paperwork, i went to get my plates renewed. i was one day late and had to pay a $5.00 late fee and then they gave me my new plates. the new plates that have the ugly bluebird on them. i would have gladly paid another $5.00 to keep my old plates bluebird free.

  2. Too bad you don't have it registered in Oklahoma..Renew online and they send your new stickers in the mail..They have a computer system that all auto insurance companies report online to the motor vehicle dept so it is a cinch..

  3. Michael, I would feel sorry for you but I spent a week in Malawi’s road traffic to have my Prado registered! And each stinking day I had to stand in this unbelievably long line with what seems like half the Blantyre in it! And seems like every time it was my turn at the counter the computer would go down and I had to come back the next day!
