Hell's Angel Finds God At the Bottom of a Bottle of Booze

According to a story released by Foxnews, http://www.foxnews.com/story? 52 year old New York native Richie Kane has found God and vowed to change his life.

According to the story, Mr. Kane grew up in one of the more violent neigborhoods in the Bronx. He talks of a life of being beaten by his alcoholic father on a daily basis, sometimes beaten so badly that blood from his head would oftern stick to his pillow. He also talks of how he was sexually molested as a child by a neighbor across the tracks from where he lived and how he couldn't tell his father about the sexual assualt in fear of being beaten. He then goes on to talk about how he then turned to drinking himself stating, "it's the one thing that he and his father had in common." After all that, while as a teenager, he then turned and joined the Hells Angels.

After being severly beaten and left for dead by a rival gang, Mr. Kane "while swimming in booze," realized that he needed help. That's when he said that he found God.

Since then he has left the Hell's Angels and has even wrote a self published book, "The Bronx Street Kid: 12 Step Recovery."

This story is truly inspriring. First of all this man could have given up on life completely when he was a child. Second, he has turned his life around. Third, not only did he turn his life around, but he has taken life by the horns and refuses to let go. He not only has written a book about his life, but he now, at the age of 52, is going back to college. Wow. This man has chosen to live life to fullest instead of letting life get the best of him. He could have easily have given up on himself when he was a kid getting beating every day or when he was being molested or when he was himself an alcoholic.

I hope if anyone out there who is really down on him or herself, that they take a moment and look at this person who could have easily given up on life. But instead he chose to fight and now he is beginning to make himself role model on how a person can change their life around for the better if the person really wants too.

  1. I actually just finished doing a blog on this same story before reading yours. I am also truly inspired by this man. It makes me feel like my life really isn't all that bad. I would really like to read his book, although its bound to make me cry.

  2. You're right, this is such an inspiring story. And I hope that anyone with the same problems as he had will read his self help book and maybe it will change their life. He is going to be such a big role model to so many people, especially since he was part of the Hells Angels; everyone knows who they are.

  3. I have a deep underlying admiration of people like this. They have a determination of life and will that doesn't end. It is wonderful to hear the bottom of the bottle and see the top. People tend to appreciate what life has to offer when they get so low there is no way to go but up. I congradulate anyone who can do this and appreciate those who have done this. Way to go on an inspiring story.

  4. I really enjoyed this story. I found it very inspiring that, any one can change, at any time, as long as they set their heart and mind to it. If a Hells Angel can do it then so can I. Thank you for posting this story.
